EASY Vegan Maple Caramel Sauce

With "easy" in the name, this vegan caramel sauce is simple to make. Add it to your ice cream sundaes, lattes, and desserts (like my Vegan Caramel Apple Crumb Bars).



Ingredients

Makes about 1 cup


• 1/2 cup cane sugar

• 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed

• 1/4 cup maple syrup

• 1/2 cup full-fat coconut milk

• 1/4 teaspoon sea salt

• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla bean powder or extract

• 1 tablespoon vegan butter

Instructions


Combine all the caramel ingredients in a small saucepan on medium heat. Whisk the mixture often until the sugar has melted. When it begins to bubble, turn the heat down to medium-low and be sure to whisk it almost constantly for about 10 minutes or until slightly thickened and stickier. Set the caramel aside to cool (it will thicken even more). Just make sure to set the caramel aside in a heat-safe bowl or jar, but don’t seal it until it has fully cooled.
